WATER
SEALED LIQUID RING PUMPS
DUPLEX BASE MOUNTED VACUUM SYSTEMS
Furnish and
install, where shown on the drawings a prefabricated duplex
base mounted water sealed liquid ring vacuum system model____________ as
manufactured by EMSE Corporation, Fairfield, NJ (1-800-935-EMSE)
The unit furnished shall be
a standard catalog item of the supplier regularly engaged in the business of
providing packaged systems for hospitals and laboratories and shall meet and
exceed the requirements of NFPA 99.
The Medical Vacuum system shall be a completely packaged
NFPA 99 and NEC compliant assembly featuring liquid ring vacuum pumps with total
seal water recirculation, a U.L. listed electrical control cabinet, an ASME
receiver and the necessary accessories required to meet and exceed the current
code requirements. All components shall be pre-piped and pre-wired to
single-point service connections. The only field connections are air intake, air
discharge, seal water supply, chilled water supply and return, drain and power
connection at the control panel. All interconnecting piping as well as wiring is
completed and operationally tested prior to shipment. Liquid tight conduit,
fittings and junction boxes are provided for all control and power wiring.
The medical vacuum pumps shall be of the positive displacement, non-pulsating, single stage liquid ring design, capable of passing fluids and soft solids without damage. The pumps shall be of cast iron construction with ductile iron impellers, stainless steel shafts and mechanical seals.
Each vacuum pump shall be
driven by a ____ HP, 3 phase, 60 cycle, ______ volt, 1750 RPM, TEFC motor. Each pump shall have a capacity of
____SCFM at 19“HG.
The system shall include the following accessories as standard equipment for each vacuum pump: inlet check valve, inlet isolation valve, vacuum relief valve, discharge separator-silencer, shell and tube heat exchanger with chilled water isolation valves, bronze or stainless steel flexible connectors on inlet, discharge and purge water supply lines, vacuum control switch as well as copper tubing with shut-off cock for gauge and vacuum switches. Each seal water line shall consist of an isolation valve, Y-strainer and temperature switch. Each purge water line shall consist of isolation valve, Y-strainer, back-flow preventer, solenoid valve, flow control valve and priming valve. Provide flexible connectors on inlet, discharge and seal water supply lines to each pump as well as copper tubing with shut-off cock for gauge and vacuum switches.
The system shall include a
_______ gallon vacuum storage tank of ASME construction. The tank shall be rated for full vacuum
service and shall be equipped with a valved by-pass, vacuum gauge, gauge glass and manual
tank drain. The inside of the tank shall be coated for rust protection with a
two component coating which provides a hard, durable lining.
Provide vibration mounting
per NFPA 99.
The system shall include a
UL listed control panel in a NEMA 12 enclosure with the following accessories
for each pump:
Externally operable
Local audible and visual alarms are provided per NFPA 99 for "Reserve in use" and also for "chilled water supply malfunction". The alarms include indicating lights as well as the horn. In addition, the chilled water supply malfunction is provided with a manual reset. The audible alarm can be acknowledged with the "Silence" button. The visual alarm will remain energized until the problem has been corrected. Each alarm function includes a set of dry contacts for connection to the master alarm. All control and alarm functions will remain energized while any vacuum pump in the system remains electrically on-line.
Automatic adjustable purge system will maintain system
cleanliness. In case of the chilled water supply malfunction the vacuum system
will automatically switch to partial seal recirculation to conserve water.
The lag vacuum pump shall be able to start automatically if the lead vacuum pump fails to operate.
The vacuum system shall be guaranteed in writing by the manufacturer for a period of 18 months from the date of start-up or 24 months from the date of shipment (whichever comes first) against defects in design, materials, or construction.
The service of a factory trained
representative shall be made available at the jobsite to check installation,
start-up and instruct operating personnel in the proper operation and
maintenance.
